A Solar Centre for Windhoek

The project comprises the following measures:

  • Establishment of the Windhoek Solar Centre
    • Refurbishment and fitting out of a publicly accessible advice and information centre, which is run in collaboration with the City of Windhoek.
  • Independent solar energy consultation
    • Providing practical consultation on solar technologies, system design, safety standards, costs and financing options for households and businesses.
  • Training and capacity building
    • Delivering training courses for local authority staff, local technicians and solar ambassadors, including ‘training-of-trainers’ programmes, to ensure the long-term transfer of knowledge.
  • Public relations and raising awareness
    • Information sessions, workshops and events designed to raise awareness of the benefits of solar energy and to promote inclusive access for various target groups.
  • Partnership and knowledge sharing
    • Exchange between local authorities, local partners and international experts to strengthen cooperation and promote continuous learning.
